Jeff Rindels

I am interested in making work that utilizes and evokes Local Truth and Dark Play.

Local Truth originates from a Ken Price quote:

"The thing I like about authentic art is the truth to the artist's own experience and feelings. Not universal but local truth, which is limited but specific. I'm trying to make the work I feel I'm supposed to be making, work that isn't about trends, or theories, or the current dialogue, but is something that elicits a genuine emotional response when I'm working on it."

I define Dark Play as the provocative exploration of sex, debauchery, and death. Music is essential to my work, and Dark Play themes often erupt in response to the music played while working.

I find that when the creative process oscillates between Local Truth and Dark Play an innate satisfaction is achieved.
